More games in prime time, a blockbuster opening fortnight and a return to Good Friday football highlight the Western Bulldogs’ 2020 AFL fixture.
The Dogs’ emerging list will see more action under the Friday night lights, with four games (two home and two away) in the marquee slot, up from just one in 2019.
And they will make a return to the Good Friday marquee game against North Melbourne in Round 4, after participating in the inaugural game in 2017 and being overlooked for the past two seasons.
The Club will feature in 12 night games in total, with eight of those scheduled on Saturday nights.
The Bulldogs travel interstate just five times, including two trips to Adelaide and one each to Sydney, Canberra and Perth.
The Club kicks off the season with two blockbuster games – a Round 1 home game against Collingwood on Friday night on March 20, and a clash with Carlton the following Saturday night, before travelling to Canberra to take on GWS in Round 3.
The Giants are the only team from last year’s top six that the Bulldogs will face twice in the 2020 season.
The Dogs’ two home games in Ballarat are at almost identical times to the 2019 campaign – they will host Gold Coast (Round 8) and Port Adelaide (Round 22) at Mars Stadium.
The Club will feature 12 times on free-to-air television on Channel 7 (two more than last season), with nine on Fox Sports.
“We’re really excited with the fixture release today, both from a commercial and a football perspective,” said Bulldogs’ CEO Ameet Bains.

“It’s an opportunity for the Club to return to prime time, and being able to play four times on Friday night, and host both Essendon and Collingwood, is really exciting.
“Saturday nights have been a great fixture for us, particularly at Marvel Stadium. To have five home games on a Saturday night at Marvel and eight overall is terrific.
“It’s great to return to Good Friday, after having the opportunity to play in the first game against North Melbourne. We’re looking forward to partnering with them and supporting the Royal Children’s Hospital.
“It’s also a strong broadcast fixture for us across both Channel 7 and Fox Sports. Particularly having 12 free to air games is something we’re really pleased with.”
