Tory Dickson has leapt up the Western Bulldogs leader board in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award after a seven-goal performance against Fremantle.

Dickson scored five votes from both Luke Beveridge and Fremantle coach Ross Lyon after his four final-quarter goals almost gave the Bulldogs an upset win.

Dickson now sits in equal second on the Bulldogs tally with 16 votes, alongside Liam Picken.

Beveridge said Dickson’s efforts had been ‘outstanding’ throughout the season.

“He was terrific Tory, he’s had a great year and he’s set himself up by training hard over the pre-season, so it’s good to see him capitalise and hit the scoreboard.

“The other parts of his game have been quite outstanding for us over recent times, hopefully we continue to grow in our forward line.”

Bulldogs captain Robert Murphy further increased his lead after polling four votes against the Dockers, and now has 22 votes for the year.

Fremantle’s Nat Fyfe polled eight votes in the match and now sits 22 votes clear of Sydney’s Dan Hannebery in the overall leaderboard.
