Western Bulldogs veteran defender Dale Morris will play on in 2018 after putting pen to paper on a one year contract extension.
Morris is joined by Jack Redpath and Lukas Webb, who have signed two year extensions, keeping both players at VU Whitten Oval until at least the end of the 2019 season.
The 34-year-old Morris has played 241 games since debuting for the Club in Round 5, 2005 against Adelaide.
Western Bulldogs List Manager Jason McCartney said he was pleased that the veteran defender had agreed to suit up again next season.
“On the field, Dale’s versatility down back is invaluable and we know he gives his all every time he pulls on the jumper,” McCartney said.
“He’s been a stalwart at our footy club for many, many years, and with his experience, toughness and work ethic, he’s the ideal player to have around our young group as they continue to grow and mature.”
The 26-year-old Redpath registered career highs in disposals and marks in 2017 and lead the Club with an average of 1.7 goals per game.
McCartney said he sees the Kyneton product as a key member of the group going forward.
“We’ve regularly seen glimpses of what Jack can do on the footy field and we’re confident his best is still ahead of him, he said.
“If he can get some continuity into his game and continues to work hard I have no doubt he can be a real presence for us up forward.”
Third year midfielder Lukas Webb added five games to his career tally in 2017 for a total of 19 since being taken with the 27th pick in the 2014 NAB AFL National Draft.
He averaged 25 disposals and kicked 16 goals over 13 games in the VFL this season, and McCartney said the future is bright for the 21-year-old.
“Lukas has continued to add to his game each year he’s been at the Club, and with so much football ahead of him, we’re looking forward to seeing him become the player we know he can be.”
The signatures of Morris, Redpath and Webb take the total to 13 players who have recommitted to the Club this year.
