Mitch Wallis made a triumphant return from a broken leg, racking up 34 disposals in an excellent display against North Ballarat on Friday night at Whitten Oval.

Wallis, 24, broke his left tibia and fibula against St Kilda last July and missed out on the club's drought-breaking premiership.

He also finished with 11 tackles and three goals from 90 minutes of game time in Footscray's 124-point win.

Wallis told AFL.com.au after the game he would likely need to play another match in the VFL he was considered for senior selection.

"I'm assuming (the club) wants me to get through a full game in the VFL next week first," he said.

Smart forward Tory Dickson booted three goals in his first game for the year after an abdominal concern.

Defender Shane Biggs racked up 35 disposals across half-back.
