Re-signed Western Bulldogs defender Dale Morris says he’s excited by what the future holds after penning a contract extension to remain at the kennel for the 2018 season.

Morris, who will turn 35 in December has played 241 games since debuting against Adelaide in Round 5, 2005.

“I’m rapt to go around again, we’ve got a really exciting group, he told Channel Seven on the weekend.

“It was a disappointing year, but there’s a lot going right.”

Morris was restricted by injury in 2017 but remains a key member of the Bulldogs backline.

Bulldogs’ List Manager Jason McCartney said that Morris’ importance goes beyond his on field impact with young defenders Zaine Cordy, Bailey Williams and Lewis Young still in the early stages of their careers.

“On the field, Dale’s versatility down back is invaluable and we know he gives his all every time he pulls on the jumper,” McCartney told westernbulldogs.com.au.

“He’s been a stalwart at our footy club for many, many years, and with his experience, toughness and work ethic, he’s the ideal player to have around our young group as they continue to grow and mature.”
