The Western Bulldogs Community Foundation CALDplay sports program has kicked off again for its tenth year, with a focus on Australian Rules football during term one.
Assisting over 200 participants drawn from AMES and Community Centres across the West, the CALDplay sports program allows participants to develop sporting skills over an eight-week period.
By participating weekly in sport, students gain a better appreciation and understanding of the sport’s rules and structure, while supporting them to maximise language proficiency and enjoy engagement in their new community.
This term will see participants develop AFL skills while learning to effectively communicate with other students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
Week one of the AFL CALDplay sports program involved 67 participants across Werribee and Sunshine participate in an AFL workshop over two separate days.
Week two of the program saw 90 participants gather again in Werribee and Sunshine, to develop their goal kicking skills.
All students involved are invited to attend the 10th Annual CALDplay Football Gala on Thursday 23 March, 2017 at Skinner Reserve Braybrook Park, Churchill Ave, Braybrook.
The Gala will encourage participants from multiple AMES and Community Centres to engage in Australian Rules football cohesively, to further build relationships with members of nearby communities.
