Midfield powerhouse Ryan Griffen capped a stellar 2012 season polling the most votes of any Western Bulldogs player at last night's Brownlow Medal at Crown Palladium.

The 26 year-old polled 11 votes from his 20 home and away season matches, including a best on ground performance in the Bulldogs' round seven victory against North Melbourne.

A favourite for the Club's best and fairest to be presented on Saturday October 6th at the Melbourne Covention and Exhibition Centre, Griffen received votes in five matches.

His 11 vote tally surpasses his previous best polling performance of 10 votes, which he recorded in 2008.

Western Bulldogs captain Matthew Boyd again polled strongly recording 10 votes, recording votes in seven of his 22 matches for Season 2012.

Meanwhile Brian Lake (7 votes), Robert Murphy (5 votes), Luke Dahlhaus (4 votes) and Adam Cooney (3 votes) also received votes.

The 2012 Brownlow Medal was won by Essendon skipper Jobe Watson (30 votes) ahead of the Hawks' Sam Mitchell (26 votes) and the Tigers' Trent Cotchin (26 votes).
