Luke Beveridge has confirmed that Josh Schache has pulled up ok after the young Dog sent a scare through the Dogs camp early in the second term when he’d look like to have seriously hurt his knee.
Schache went down clutching his left leg following a collision on the goal line early in the quarter and the 20-year-old had to be helped from the ground by the Dogs medical staff.
He eventually returned to play out the game, the coach confirming there’s no ongoing concern despite how it may have looked.
“It did look a bit nasty, Beveridge said post-match.
“But he shook it off and finished the game off ok physically.”
Schache collected 15 disposals and took eight marks and added two goals in his seventh straight game for the season, although most of that was done in an encouraging first half.
“I think his game epitomised how the team went,” Beveridge said. “He looked like he was influential in the first half and as the game went on we didn’t get enough out of our 22 and Josh was one of those.
“There’s been some good things in Josh’s game from week to week, and we saw some good in the first half.
“Josh is one as we move into the future will be a player who will influence the game for longer and obviously we’re impatient and we’d like that now.”
The Dogs now face an eight day turnaround before flying to Perth to face the Eagles next Sunday.
