Defender Taylor Duryea has credited his side’s on-field chemistry and growing experience for an impressive past month of football.
Following an eight-point win over Melbourne on Sunday afternoon, Duryea praised the young group’s ability to build on their confidence after consecutive wins.
“Last week was a perfect rehearsal for this week, we came from behind at three-quarter time when it was tight and we managed to kick away, so we’re confident we can do that now,” Duryea said.
“As much as our group is pretty young, we are starting to get some maturity in how we go about our game in certain areas.”
Returning in round 14 after missing two months through a hip injury, Duryea has become a vital member of the Dogs’ defence in his first year in red, white and blue.
“I only played four games prior to getting injured, at a new club, so I didn’t find that I was completely comfortable,” Duryea said.
“Now off the back of the injury and getting some match fitness, I’m feeling really good in the body and I’m starting to gel with the other backs.”
Currently sitting 10th on the ladder, Duryea said the Bulldogs are determined to continue their winning ways.
“We’re just riding our momentum at the moment,” he said.
“If we continue to build on what we’ve been doing, we’ll give ourselves a chance every week.”
