The Western Bulldogs AFLW premiership team has been nominated for a 2018 Victorian Sport Award, receiving a finalist place within the Sportslink Travel Team of the Year category.

The award recognises Victorian teams who have achieved outstanding results in performance at a state, national, international, or elite level during 2018.

The Western Bulldogs AFLW team were named alongside Melbourne Victory, Melbourne United and Melbourne Ice Women as finalists for the award.

Western Bulldogs premiership captain Ellie Blackburn said that the team were thrilled to hear about their place as a finalist.

“It’s really exciting to be recognised for our 2018 season and the Club’s first AFL Women’s premiership,” Blackburn told westernbulldogs.com.au

“The Club’s AFL team won the award back in 2016, so it would be great to mirror their success in our premiership year.”

“We’re extremely grateful to have been recognised alongside three other hugely successful teams.”

The 2018 Victorian Sport Award winners will be announced on Wednesday 20^th February 2019 at Marvel Stadium.
