Confidence remains high at VU Whitten Oval, as the Western Bulldogs look to break a run of four losses when they face Richmond on Saturday night at Marvel Stadium.

Defender Caleb Daniel says if the Dogs can make a few little tweaks, it could have a big impact.

“It’s still pretty upbeat (around the group),” Daniel told Macquarie Sports Radio.

“There were some positives to come out of the (Fremantle) game. We put in a decent three-quarter effort I suppose. They probably came out of the blocks in the first quarter and caught us napping a little bit, but to the boys' credit they came back hard.

“It’s not nice to have a last quarter like we did, but there’s still some positives.”

Daniel has been in stellar form so far in 2019, averaging almost 28 disposals and more than six rebound-50s per game off the half-back line.

The 22-year-old says the Dogs know they can improve their ball use.

“We just need to use the ball a fair bit better, especially going inside 50,” Daniel said.

“We’re probably blazing away a little bit and not lowering our eyes and hitting up forwards coming at the footy.

“That’s an area that needs improvement, and if you do that you’re going to put a score on the board which is obviously really important.”
