The Western Bulldogs look set to welcome back four players from injury for Friday’s AFL and VFL matches against Collingwood.

As mentioned by senior coach Luke Beveridge following Sunday’s match against the Gold Coast Suns, Jason Johannisen will be in the frame for Friday night’s blockbuster against the Pies at the MCG.

The rebounding defender will need to train this week, but has overcome the ankle syndesmosis injury he sustained during the pre-season.

After significant periods on the sidelines, key forward Tom Boyd (back) and midfielder Lin Jong (hamstring) are also set to return this week, provided they get through training, as is ruckman Jackson Trengove (ankle/illness) after missing Friday night’s VFL win against Sandringham.

A relatively injury-free weekend across the AFL and VFL teams will see the Bulldogs’ injury list significantly shortened.

Matthew Suckling (nose) and Marcus Bontempelli (knee) are both expected to be fit to play on Friday, after copping knocks against the Suns.
