Marcus Bontempelli is looking forward to standing in as the Western Bulldogs’ skipper for the second time in his career against Gold Coast on Saturday.
Captain Easton Wood will miss this weekend’s clash with the Suns after suffering a hamstring injury in the Bulldogs’ win over Carlton.
Bontempelli created a record in 2016 when he led the team to victory as stand-in skipper against West Coast.
At just 20 years and 194 days of age, he became the youngest captain in the game's history to lead a VFL/AFL team to victory.
“I think it’s important to keep it (the pre-game address) simple. I’ve only had the experience of doing it once before and sometimes Woody will give me a go after half time,” Bontempelli told RSN Breakfast Club this morning.
“The last couple of weeks I’ve had a little half time spell.
“I know as a player you only want one or two things and at the end a little fire up so you can run away and start the game with.
“I probably won’t give it too much thought and that might mean I stuff it up, but you’ve got a 50% chance, don’t you?”
