Bulldogs young gun Sam Darcy has committed his long-term future to the Kennel, signing a four-year extension that keeps the 21-year-old in red, white and blue until at least the end of 2029.

Already contracted into next season, Darcy has displayed a strong show of faith in the Bulldogs' program, putting pen to paper early and for the foreseeable future.

The 21-year-old and third-generation Bulldog has played 28 games since he was drafted with Pick 2 in 2021.

He enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2024, averaging 12.5 disposals, 4.9 marks and 2.9 tackles while booting 38 goals from 21 matches.

With an ability to play at either end of the ground, Darcy settled as a forward-ruck this year and will look to build on that in 2025 and beyond.

Darcy was delighted to have the contract locked away for 2025.

“It was a really easy decision for me in the end,” Darcy said.

“This Club means so much to me – I’ve got a rich family history here. I grew up supporting the Bulldogs and I am very grateful to be living out my dreams at Mission Whitten Oval.”

“I’m really confident in the direction we’re heading and love coming into work every day with the boys as we continue to try and improve.

“I just want to keep building on the foundations I set up last year and put in a big pre-season to hopefully set myself up for success in 2025.”

Bulldogs’ Acting Head of Men’s Football, Sam Power, said it was exciting to have Darcy commit to the Club.

“Only three seasons into his career, Sam has shown plenty of exciting qualities as he navigates the early parts of his journey,” Power said.

“Having continuity this season allowed Sam to display his aerial capabilities, becoming one of the most challenging forwards to defend in the game, while maintaining his elite competitive edge every time he steps onto the field.

“Sam has a deep family history within the Western Bulldogs and we’re really pleased that he has committed until the end of 2029, showcasing his belief in the direction this Club is heading.”

“He’s an important part of the Club’s future with plenty of growth still remaining in his game.”
