Western Bulldogs list boss Sam Power says the club is pleased with their draft hand heading into next month’s draft.
The Bulldogs were involved in a number of buzzer-beater deals on Deadline Day, including a four-club trade which saw Carlton’s Matt Kennedy arrive, and Bailey Smith and Jack Macrae depart.
The Dogs also bade farewell to Caleb Daniel in exchange for Pick 25 from North Melbourne.
“We’re really happy – it’s a strong draft as everyone talks about. To have (picks) 17, 25 and 35 is really positive, plus all of our future picks as well,” the Bulldogs GM of List Management and Recruiting said.
“It gives us flexibility and might open up opportunities with live trading or being able to do different things on the night potentially – depending on how it plays out.
“(The Bailey Smith deal) dragged on pretty late – we were trying to get as much out of it as we could and exhaust different opportunities.
“Geelong were pretty firm in Pick 17, but we were able to get that pick swap on top of it too which was positive and helped us bring Matt Kennedy in.17 is a really good pick in this draft.”
Power was excited to welcome Kennedy to the Kennel.
“Matt will be able to play a bit of inside-mid and forward. He’s a big body that can play hard at the ball, but has also shown he can play forward with his aerial game.
“He’s a high-end character and will bring a lot to the group both on the field and off the field.”
The Club holds picks 17, 25, 35 and 48 in next month's Telstra AFL Draft.
