The Western Bulldogs' 2024 AFL campaign has come to an end, defeated by Hawthorn in an Elimination Final at the MCG on Friday night.
The Bulldogs started the game in fine fashion, holding a two-goal lead at the first break, but it was all the Hawks after that, storming home 9.8 (62) to 14.15 (99).
While the Dogs were in control early, they didn't capitalise as well as they could've from their dominance, allowing Hawthorn to stay close.
Conceding five goals in the second quarter, the Bulldogs were unable to arrest the Hawks' momentum even after the half-time break.
To their credit, the Dogs lifted in the early parts of the last led by Marcus Bontempelli, but by then the damage was already done.
Adam Treloar finished with a team-high 28 disposals, Tom Liberatore battled hard with 25 touches and four tackles, and Aaron Naughton slotted three goals.
Joel Freijah and Rory Lobb both finished with seven marks each.
