The Footscray Bulldogs have come out victorious in an almighty display against the Sydney Swans at Tramway Oval early Saturday afternoon.

The Dogs set the pace to secure the 10.10 (70) to 16.11 (107) victory in their last home and away game of the season.

The ‘Scray asserted authority from the get-go, showcasing effective ball movement that stifled the Swans’ efficiency inside 50 early on.

Despite the relatively low scoring nature of the opening quarter, Footscray demonstrated its prowess to limit the Swans to a single major.

Sydney seized the momentum early in the second, scoring three consecutive goals to open the term.

However, the Dogs responded to the challenge, booting seven goals to re-establish momentum.

Majors from Ryan Gardner, Anthony Scott and James Harmes helped counter the home side’s surge, while two goals apiece from Diesel Moloney and Dom Bedendo secured a 39-point lead heading into half time.

The Dogs maintained their control after the break, with Footscray’s efficiency making it difficult for the Swans to gain any momentum for the remainder of the match.

Moloney showcased his forward craft throughout, finishing the game as the highest goal-scorer with four majors.

Ryley Sanders continued his recent form, racking up a match-high 35 disposals and seven clearances.

Bedendo also delivered an impressive performance, finishing with three goals and 17 disposals.

Footscray will now turn its attention to the 2024 finals series, commencing in two weeks’ time.
