What it means

With just five rounds to go in the home-and-away season, every win the Bulldogs can register will go a long way in their attempt to qualify for the finals series. Currently sitting one game outside the top eight – and remarkably just two games outside the top four – the logjam of teams still in the hunt has never been so tight.

Who to watch

Fresh off a four-goal haul and career-high 20 disposals, Jamarra Ugle-Hagan will be looking to add to his career tally on Saturday night. The 22-year-old already has 29 majors for the year – closing in on his career-best output (35 in 2023) – which he should eclipse by the end of the home-and-away season. He relished his opportunity as the number one key forward against Carlton, and would enjoy a similar performance against the Cats.

Dogs footy on show

Whether you’re heading to Geelong or staying in Melbourne this weekend, there will be plenty of Dogs footy on show. Footscray will meet the Cats in a VFL curtain-raiser at GMHBA Stadium prior to the AFL clash, with the first bounce at 3.40pm.

The senior Dogs and Cats will then go head-to-head from 7.30pm that night, before the VFLW Dogs take on North Melbourne in the 2024 rebel VFLW Grand Final. Free to attend and televised on Channel 7, the first bounce is set for 12.10pm on Sunday at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne.

TAC Road Safety Round

Taking place this weekend, TAC Road Safety Round will see football and netball players across the state band together.

This year’s Road Safety Round will spotlight speeding - a major contributor to trauma on Victorian roads. To honour lives lost on the road, the Bulldogs will wear blue armbands on Saturday night, also serving as a reminder that we all have a responsibility to play our role.

Show up for your team. Slow down on the road.
