Western Bulldogs defender Bailey Dale says the team is looking forward to seeing how they stack up against Geelong this Saturday night.
The Bulldogs claimed a 20-year first when they defeated the Cats at GMHBA Stadium last year, with Dale hopeful they can do it again this weekend.
“Before last year, I don't think we had beaten (Geelong) down there for a long, long time,” he said on 3AW.
“It’s always a tough task going down there – any team that goes down there always finds it challenging.
“They’re just a tough, contested team and seem to play really well on their ground.
“Obviously we’re going into this game with a win from last year – so we’re confident we can hopefully play some of our best footy that we did like on the weekend (against Carlton).
“They've obviously got some quality players behind the footy that can intercept and rebound quite quickly, and then in front of the ball they can get out the back really fast and kick some goals.
“We're going to have to be careful of (some of those guys). It is a tough ground and very tight, so you have to play pretty direct football.
“We’ll go down with that sort of attitude.”
Dale said despite a handful of games coming up against top-eight opposition, the Dogs are keeping a glass-half-full approach.
“Geelong down in Geelong is a tough task, and then Sydney in Sydney is also a tough task,” Dale said.
“We know we have some really hard games coming up, but we know we're good enough to hopefully get a couple of wins there.
“If we're good enough to win, we're good enough to play finals at the end of the year and compete with those teams.
“We’ve got a glass-half-full sort of approach and we're confident we can hopefully get away with a couple of wins.”
The Bulldogs will announce their Round 19 team at 6.20pm tonight.
