Western Bulldogs midfielder Adam Treloar says while it is disappointing to be falling short in games, he is hopeful the tides will turn for the team soon.

The Bulldogs had their chances late against the Hawks to snatch the lead late in the game, but ultimately couldn’t connect effectively enough forward of the ball.

Scrappy definitely is a good word for it – it’s just disappointing,” Treloar said post-game.

“It feels at the moment when we are in games - even thinking back to last weekend against Freo we were only down by a kick with 10 minutes to go - we’re just not finishing it off, or not connecting well at the end of games which is probably the most frustrating thing.

“I definitely feel like we’re leaving a lot out there.

“Full credit to Hawthorn – they came with an intent and we’re very good around the ball. They won contested ball which hurt us a bit but we’re just disappointed.”

Treloar has been one of the Bulldogs’ most consistent performers to date this season, averaging 31 disposals (ranked in Champion Data’s elite category), six clearances (elite) and five tackles (above average).

He said while there is plenty to learn from the Hawks match, he has no doubt the team will come together throughout the week to do everything they can to beat Richmond this Saturday night.

“We’ve been turning the ball over in really good spots where we have an opportunity to go back the other way, but at the moment we’re just not connecting well - whether it’s kicking the ball inside 50 or turning the ball over in really dangerous spots for opposition teams to then slingshot and score on us,” he said.

“The boys are working extremely hard – we train well, we’re always trying to get better.

“The love and care that everyone shows for one another – there’s always a want to improve. It’s just a little bit frustrating at the moment that we’re not delivering for 120 minutes in a game.”
