The Footscray Bulldogs have claimed their third consecutive win, defeating the Casey Demons by seven points at Marvel Stadium on Sunday afternoon, as the Club celebrated the 30th anniversary of the 1989 Fightback.
Continuing his impressive VFL form, Bailey Dale proved vital in the forward line, kicking the first two goals of the match. In his second game back, Lin Jong was named best afield, collecting 21 touches and booting two goals.
The ‘Scray made the most of their forward entries, with five of their six goal scorers, kicking multiple goals. Reuben William led the pack with three, while Mitch Wallis (14 disposals, six tackles) and Anthony Scott kicked two of their own. Midfielder Will Hayes (22 disposals, four tackles) also impacted the scoreboard with one major of his own.
Developing midfielder, Rhylee West continued to impress at VFL level, gathering 23 disposals and five tackles.
The defensive pressure led by Dale Morris and Fletcher Roberts proved too strong against a Casey forward line. Standing up in crucial moments, Morris collected five marks and two tackles, while Roberts’ 20 disposals and three tackles kept the Dees at bay. The intensity brought by Lachie Young also restricted their pace, laying seven tackles and taking six marks.
Footscray take on Sandringham next Sunday at Trevor Barker Oval.
