The Western Bulldogs and Victoria Police thanked the community for their support in Footscray Mall today
Footscray Police got behind the LeasePlan Western Bulldogs today by taking it to the streets to celebrate the team’s winning streak midway through the AFL season.
Despite the threat of rain, celebrations began at midday in the Footscray Mall, with Victoria Police’s very own band ‘Code One’ rocking out to the local crowd.
Western Bulldogs staff were on hand giving away merchandise, including hats and posters, to a few lucky fans.
Children also got to dance with club mascot Woofer and the City West Water mascot Wilbur while the band was playing.
Leading Senior Constable Craig Spicer, Community Liaison Officer at Footscray Police, said the day was designed to provide of fun for everyone in the local community.
“It was great to see so many residents at the street party celebrating the success of the Western Bulldogs so far this year," he said.
Local residents were encouraged to swap their showerheads through CityWest Water's exhange program, while a collection by World Visionhelped raised money for the relief efforts following the Burma cyclone and China earthquake.
