Western Bulldogs assistant coach Joel Corey says the team has had to turn a quick focus to Saturday night’s clash with the Blues, after moving on from the knee injury to skipper Bob Murphy earlier in the week.
Speaking with westernbulldogs.com.au, Corey said that as difficult as it was for the Club to see Murphy go down, it was important that the players narrow their focus on Saturday night.
“You’ve got six days to review a game and then preview the next, so [while] we have empathy for Murph’s situation – he’s a great leader of this football club and a great teammate, [but] we’ve got a game to play,” he said.
“We talk about what we need to do, not losing sight of what Murph’s done for us, we’ve to go forward and try to produce this weekend.”
Corey said the focus of the week has been around getting the players’ recovery right and preparing them to bring the same intensity they did against Hawthorn.
“While we lost on the weekend, in the overall context, we’re trying to actually build as we go each week.
“We’re just trying to get better each time that we play.”
