After a prominent showing in Collingwood’s round nine VFL win, Ben Reid is closing in on a senior return and could face the Bulldogs on Sunday.
“I’m not sure what the go is from here. I’ll be just training all this week and just keep putting my best foot forward to try and get back in the senior side,” Reid told CollingwoodTV.
“They’re travelling pretty well at the moment.”
Scott Pendlebury backed the 95-gamer after a strong week on the training track but said the verdict ultimately fell to the selection committee.
“I’m not sure what his plan is but he did look pretty good on the weekend,” Pendlebury said.
“So whether he comes back this week or not is up to Bucks and the match committee to decide.”
The Collingwood skipper has also been impressed by his young teammates in Reid’s absence, who have filled the void and are now pressing for a more permanent spot in defence.
“It’s a young backline and guys like [Jack] Frosty, [Lachlan] Keefey, Marley Williams – I think most of the guys in our backline are off the rookie list so they are doing really well,” he said.
“It’s been a bit of a surprise for even guys inside the club to see how well we are doing.”
Collingwood’s offseason recruit Jesse White has also been deemed available for Sunday’s clash after injuring his finger against St Kilda last fortnight.
