The Western Bulldogs have appointed Rhys Cahir as senior coach of their VFLW side for season 2023.
Cahir arrives at the Kennel after serving as head coach of the NAB League Girls’ GWV Rebels side, and was elevated to assistant coach of both the GWV Rebels’ Boys and Girls teams following the amalgamation of the two programs.
He was also selected to join the Vic Country Girls U18 team as an assistant coach at the National Girls Carnival.
Head of Football Chris Grant was pleased to welcome Cahir to the Club.
“Rhys has a strong teaching and empathic approach to his coaching, which stood out highly in our search for a new VFLW coach,” Grant said.
“His proven background in developing and supporting players in skill acquisition, conditioning and game-plan understanding aligns strongly with the direction of our new VFLW program in 2023, so we are thrilled to have him joining our Club.
“With a new player list and program now in place for 2023, it is an exciting time ahead for our VFL Women’s team”.
The broader VFLW coaching panel will be finalised over the next fortnight, with the team set to commence preseason training later this month.
