When asked about his expectations for season 2022 back in February, Ed Richards had a clear goal in mind.
“I’m really excited to crack in and cement my spot in the team, and just be really reliable for my teammates down back.”
And that he did – playing a career-high 22 games while smashing some personal bests on the stats sheet.
He averaged 18 possessions, six marks and four rebound 50s in 2022, with his best outing coming against Geelong in Round 20 where he notched up 28 touches and 11 marks.
His career top-three disposals, top-four rebounds 50s and top-seven marks were also recorded this year, highlighting his impact as a running defender after spending the early parts of his career in a range of different positions.
Richards placed 10th in the Charles Sutton Medal while claiming the Tony Liberatore Most Improved Player award for his efforts, and looks primed to continue levelling up in 2023.
