Bulldogs forward Deanna Berry says the group can’t wait to get back to Ballarat for Sunday’s Pride Round.
The Dogs will enter the clash off the back of a heavy defeat in round seven, but haven’t had their spirits dampened.
“We love coming down to Ballarat – it’s obviously our second home, and probably more our first home this season just because Whitten Oval is (undergoing) a redevelopment,” Berry told PowerFM on Thursday.
“We love the surface, and love getting around the locals – especially this second weekend we’re playing down there.
“This weekend is going to be a bit of a bounce back for us. Coming off the back of a pretty big loss to Melbourne last week, we’re really excited to have a red hot crack.
“I think the Saints are in the same boat and will want to get a win on the board, so it’s going to be a pretty hot game.”
Sunday’s match at MARS Stadium will also celebrate Pride Round, with the Dogs to wear a new-look guernsey reflecting the pastel blue, pink and white colours of the transgender flag.
“I think it’s just so important that we can celebrate that inclusivity and support everyone within every community,” Berry explained.
“At the Dogs, we really pride ourselves on making sure everyone feels safe and included so we love that we can support Pride Round, and really rally behind everything it’s about.
“Hopefully we can come away with a win. The girls are ready to pounce.”
Tickets to the match are on sale now, with the match-worn guernseys to be auctioned off post-game too.
