Western Bulldogs AFLW young guns Jess Fitzgerald and Isabella Grant have been announced as ambassadors of the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation.

Both players have had strong involvement with the Foundation and its targeted community programs this year, volunteering their time in a range of youth and diversity initiatives.

Fitzgerald has shared her experiences as a female athlete with participants in both the Youth Leadership Project and Leaders of the Pack program, speaking on topics such as resilience, role models and leadership.

Grant has been involved in a range of sports activities in the Braybrook Community Hub program, a drop in after school service for young people in the Braybrook area.

Alongside a number of other AFLW and AFLW players, Fitzgerald and Grant have both mentored young African-Australians from across the west in the GOAL program. Throughout the program young people are paired with mentors, who work together on various life and leadership skill activities in a fun and supportive environment.

Grant is excited to be involved with the Foundation, offering her a chance to give back to initiatives that have made an impact on so many across the West.

“From the Sons of the West program to the Youth Leadership Project, the Foundation reaches such a wide variety of people and to have the opportunity to help them in some way is incredible,” said Grant.

“I’m most excited about being a mentor to young people, to help them feel confident being themselves, as that’s what I wish I had when I was finishing high school.”

Fitzgerald is looking forward to learning from participants from the various Foundation programs.

“I wanted to get involved as an ambassador as I saw it as great opportunity to learn from such a diverse range of people who participate in the Community Foundation’s programs,” said Fitzgerald.

“I’m excited at the idea of getting to be a mentor and share any knowledge I have that may be of use to others.”

Both players will continue to be involved in a range of Community Foundation programs and events as part of their ambassadorial roles.

The pair will offer their insights, expertise and leadership to the 4000 plus participants of the Foundation’s targeted programs, as well as the further 14,000 people engaged by the Foundation at events and festivals each year.
