Western Bulldogs forward De Berry says the group couldn’t be more thrilled with their start to season seven.
It is the first time since 2019 the Dogs have opened their AFLW campaign with two wins from two games, with a chance to extend that streak this Friday night against Fremantle.
“It’s very exciting – the girls have rallied together this preseason, and we’re ready to have a strong season, so sitting 2-0 is great,” Berry told RSN on Tuesday morning.
“We have a really good list, and the girls have worked extremely hard in the off-season to make sure we can build on what we’ve been growing.
“It’s exciting to see our young Pups finally getting their groove and finding their feet. That’s exactly what we wanted.”

Last weekend’s win over Port Adelaide might have been marred by a leg injury to Brit Gutknecht, but Berry said the 21-year-old is in good spirits following surgery.
“It was quite scary to be honest – we’re obviously a very tight-knit team, as most clubs are, so we were pretty scared and didn’t know what was going on to begin with,” Berry recalled.
“Once we got an understanding of how it was going to play out, and what the next steps were, we just rallied around each other and made sure we were going to be okay.
“We had another half of footy to play, plus the 90 seconds that were left in that quarter so we put our arms around each other and made sure we could get through that last half, and most importantly made sure we could get the win on the board and support Brit with open arms.
“The strength she showed on the weekend instilled a lot of confidence in us.
“We were lucky enough to FaceTime Brit last night – she’s just dominating, up and walking in the hospital hallways not long after surgery.

“She’s already flying through the rehab.”
The Bulldogs will launch AFLW Indigenous Round this Friday night against Fremantle at IKON Park.
They will wear a guernsey designed by former development coach and proud Noongar woman Kirby Bentley, which highlights connection and empowerment.
The match-worn guernseys will be auctioned off post-game, with a limited amount of guernseys also available for retail at the Bulldogs Shop.
