Western Bulldogs defender Dale Morris has suffered a set-back in his rehabilitation of a broken leg and is expected to miss a minimum of 6 weeks.

After experiencing some soreness in his right leg last week and having subsequent scans, it was revealed that Morris sustained a stress fracture in his right fibula — albeit at a different point of the bone to the previous injury.

The 2008 All-Australian defender underwent minor surgery on Saturday to stabilize his right fibula.

General Manager of Football James Fantasia said although Morris is disappointed by the set-back, he is focussed on returning as quickly as possible.

“Dale is a resilient character and will throw himself into his new rehabilitation program like he has over the past few months,” Fantasia said.

Morris broke both bones in his right leg when he landed awkwardly in last years’ Round 21 encounter against Essendon at Etihad stadium.
