Geelong               7.13    (55)

We are back again for our weekly insight into our boys in the VFL, this week we are chatting with Williamstown coach Peter German following another big win for the Seagulls.

Peter thanks for joining us, you must be very pleased after the weekend’s performance?

Yes I was, we started well with a terrific first quarter where we kicked 7 goals to 1.  Our tackling, pressure and willingness to win the hard ball was evident and it really showed on the scoreboard.

Fantastic, you had a few multiple goal kickers on the weekend including Jason Akermanis who finished the game with 5 goals.

Aker was really productive on the weekend and we played him a little closer to goal.  He did kick 5 and missed a couple but his pressure skills were good.

Matthew Little has almost kicked another bag with 4 goals and Liam Jones had another good performance.

Yeah Liam was outstanding taking 7 marks and his work across half forward was exceptional.  The way he goes about his football at the moment with using his speed is very exciting and you would think he would soon start putting his name up for selection.

And how did you see Nathan Eagleton and Brodie Moles’ games?

Yes Brodie was good in the midfield and Eagleton had around 30 possessions also.  They both worked really hard through the lines and gave us some really good ball use.

Also Andrejs Everitt and James Mulligan were forced to play in the ruck and they both did they did a really good job as well.

And 3 goals to Andrejs.

Yes he used his running ability to his advantage at times and he did well to push forward and kick 3.

How did you see Andrew Hooper’s game following on from his promotion onto the Primary List during the week?

Hoops was a bit down, he kicked 1 goal but the ball did not seem to bounce his way a few times.  I am sure he will be disappointed that he could not follow up from last week but he still chased, tackled and did all the things we asked him to do...so he still has it all in front of him.

And what are your thoughts on this week?

Well we play Coburg at home and we are expecting a tough game.  They are obviously aligned with Richmond who are up and running so I am sure there is a bit of excitement there.  They will be preparing for a big game as they are still in with a chance to make the Finals.

A few selection headaches this week with Rocket flagging a few possible changes in the Seniors last night?

Yeah but I look at that as a positive, it will give the guys in the reserves an opportunity.  They are playing well having only lost 1 game, so there are plenty of players there screaming out for an opportunity.  Eddie Prato should have probably played seniors for Williamstown on the weekend if not for an injury.

Matthew Panos was good up forward, Jason Tutt is still making his way but his chance will come and Jamason Daniels is starting to get some real consistency.  Another big plus for the weekend was having Lukas Markovic back who got through his game in the reserves.

And what about Christian Howard?

He played Williamstown seniors on the weekend but he is coming off an injury interrupted year so far and we need to get a few aspects of his game right before he starts to take the game on a bit more.  So we will try and build him up over the next couple of weeks to help turn him into a player that can really hold his own at this level.

Well Peter thank you once again for joining us today, the boys are looking good and it’s certainly going to be an interesting road into the Finals for Williamstown.  See you next week!
