Eliza Vale has claimed the VFLW Bulldogs’ Best and Fairest Award after a standout 2022 campaign.

Vale polled 154 votes at Friday night’s formalities, from 11 of a possible 14 games this season.

It marks an incredible rise for the 20-year-old, who was recognised as the Club’s Best Young Player last season while finishing sixth place in the count.

Vale averaged 20 disposals, six marks and three tackles, earning herself a spot on the Sydney Swans AFLW list in the process.

She was regularly featured among the Bulldogs’ best on ground, showing composure and maturity well beyond her years.

Midfielder Lucy Schneider finished runner-up with 105 votes, averaging 23 touches and four marks from her 14 matches, while volleyballer-turned-ruck Jaimee-Lee Morrow rounded out the top three with 65 votes.

Captain Riley Christgoergl received the Trainers’ Award, co-vice captain Eliza Morrison was voted the Players’ Player, and Nikita Wright took out the Coaches’ Award.

Mikayla Barnes and Tarrah Delgado shared the Best Young Player Award.

At the competition of every home and away match, the coaching panel each award votes to the five best players. These votes are then combined to produce a weekly total. The maximum votes any player can receive for a given round is 20.
