Western Bulldogs captain Easton Wood will miss at least a week of football after suffering a hamstring injury against Carlton on Friday night.
Speaking to westernbulldogs.com.au on Monday, medical services manager Chris Bell said Wood will be reassessed in two weeks’ time.
“Although he got through the game, scans have confirmed since that he has got a low-grade hamstring injury,” Bell said.
“He definitely won't play this week because we don't want to take any risks, but we expect him to be available in the next two to three weeks.”
While Wood could be back on field soon, the news isn’t as encouraging for Jack Redpath who will miss up to three months after knee surgery.
“Jack has suffered some soreness in his knee over the last two weeks, Bell said.
“Unfortunately it hasn't settled and we had to proceed to surgery. The surgery involved a repair to his lateral meniscus which is a shock-absorbing pad in his knee.
“Unfortunately the time frame for the recovery for this sort of operation is about 10-12 weeks.”
In better news, Roarke Smith is expected to be available after recovering from a hip injury suffered at training a fortnight ago, while Bell also expects Josh Schache to return this weekend.
“Josh has made a really good recovery following his ankle injury that he had in the VFL two weeks ago.
“He's been really diligent with his recovery, which is great (and) he ticked off a game-like training session for the guys that didn't play on the weekend.
“He got through that really well and I expect him to train this weekend and be available.”
