Western Bulldogs midfielder Adam Treloar was full of praise for defensive duo Bailey Dale and Caleb Daniel following the team’s 32-point win over Essendon.
The All Australian pair were important in the Bulldogs’ back six on Sunday, with Treloar highlighting how the team reaps the rewards of Daniel and Dale’s defensive efforts.
“With all due respect to the players I’ve played with, they’re probably the two of the best kicks I’ve ever played with,” Treloar told 3AW post-match.
“The way they can see the game and bring players into it - half the time we don’t even think we’re in the play and they just pull a kick and the game opens up. I think that’s so damaging for us.”
Daniel registered a team-high 32 disposals and seven intercepts against Essendon, while Dale accumulated 28 touches, seven marks and 724 metres gained.
Both received four coaches’ votes each.
“The best thing about those two is their defensive-minded hat and the way they’ve been able to improve so much on the defensive side of their game,” Treloar continued.
“You can see when we play, that we try and get the ball in their hands as much as possible because they bring all of us into it and really open up the game for us.
“When you go through the corridor - it’s the most damaging and direct way to go to goal - so the way they can do that helps us.”
Slotting 16 majors from 10 individual goalkickers against the Bombers, the Bulldogs will be hoping for a similar output in their Friday night blockbuster with Port Adelaide.
The first bounce will be at 7.30pm AEST at Adelaide Oval and broadcast live on Channel 7.
