Mitch Wallis is ready to shape the next generation of Bulldogs.
Elevated to the leadership group along with defender Jackson Trengove, Wallis is hoping to lead by example and set the standard for the next crop of Bulldogs.
“It’s such an exciting time for the players coming in for their first AFL season,” said Wallis.
“Especially for the kids who are coming straight from school. It’s our role to make sure that we shape them into the Bulldogs men that we need them to be.”
26-year-old Wallis said he has no doubt that this year’s draftees have the talent and self-drive to succeed.
BULLDOGS DUO ELEVATED TO LEADERSHIP GROUP
“I’m sure they’re going to put their hand up and accept the challenge – make sure they’re doing the right thing week by week and especially on game day,” he said.
And with a new season comes new challenges and Wallis is confident the current group of Bulldogs are up to the task.
“We’ve had our ups and downs across the 22 games of the season – but in the last couple of months (of the season) we started to really gel as a group,” said Wallis.
“We started to implement the game plan well and get the reward from that with a few wins.
“It gives us a lot of momentum going into season 2019 and with a few new recruits we’re going to add to our mix.”
