The Western Bulldogs will receive a boost of experience this weekend with stalwarts Ryan Griffen, Adam Cooney and Shaun Higgins heading seven inclusions in the mix to take on Sydney at Etihad Stadium, Sunday.

The three veterans are set to return from injury, named in the 25 man squad alongside Lukas Markovic and Easton Wood who made a return last week through the VFL.

Tall forwards Ayce Cordy and Liam Jones have also been recalled to the squad after showing solid form for Williamstown in their win against Northern Blues last Saturday.

A late withdrawal last weekend against Richmond, Griffen will be a welcome inclusion through the middle with his pace and silky skills to compliment the current crop of midfielders against a highly capable Swans outfit according to Senior Coach Brendan McCartney.

"Ryan Griffen obviously gives us a lot of maturity and talent through the midfield which takes some pressure off some of our younger players," McCartney said.

Bolstering the Bulldogs forward stocks is Higgins who will be eager to take to the field after re-signing with the Club earlier this week.

Spending the past four weeks on the sidelines rehabilitating a hamstring injury, the 24 year old is equal second on the Bulldogs goal scoring tally averaging just under 2 goals in his last three outings.

Cooney is also hopeful of making a comeback after being restricted to the sidelines since round 14, pending the teams being finalised tomorrow.

Returning to the Dogs back six, Wood will add some athleticism running off half back while Markovic will continue to employ his uncompromising defensive efforts.

A best on ground performance for Williamstown by duel ruckman - forward Ayce Cordy has earned him the call up to senior selection while a number of consistent performances by key forward Jones also seen him in the mix on the extended interchange.

"We welcome back some experienced, mature senior players back into the team and we know our supporters out there will enjoy seeing them run around as well," McCartney said.
