At just 163cm, midfielder Tony Liberatore was one of the shortest players to play the game at the highest level.
Despite missing the last three rounds of the 1990 season due to injury, he claimed the Club's eighth Brownlow Medal with 18 votes, narrowly edging out Collingwood's Graham Wright (17 votes) and Carlton's Stephen Silvagni (16). Fellow Bulldog Tony McGuinness polled 14 votes to finish seventh.
Liberatore would go on to finish equal-fifth in Footscray's 1990 Charles Sutton Medal count, but would go on to win the Club's best and fairest the following season.
