The injury to Western Bulldogs’ captain Easton Wood’s ankle is not as bad as first feared, after scan results on Monday cleared the defender of any bone damage.
Wood fell awkwardly in a marking contest with Essendon’s Darcy Parish midway through the third quarter of Sunday’s clash at Etihad Stadium, and played no further part in the game.
GM, Football Graham Lowe was optimistic of Wood’s chances to play again this season.
“Woody had scans this morning and the good news is there is no bone damage but he does have a medial ligament injury that we need to address,” Lowe told westernbulldogs.com.au.
“He’s going to be in a CAM boot for the next seven to ten days, and once his CAM boot is removed, then we’ll determine his return to play, but we’re optimistic that he can play a part in our finals series.”
Thanks to everyone for all the messages and support around my ankle. The news is very good with no break or ruptured ligaments #kankle

One player who is likely to line up against Fremantle this weekend is veteran Dale Morris, who Lowe said has ‘trained and prepared really well over the last couple of weeks.’
The news is less certain on Matthew Suckling who is continuing to manage an achilles complaint, but he hasn’t been ruled out of Sunday’s clash
“Matty’s got to get through this week in terms of training and preparation, Lowe said.
“If he ticks those boxes he’ll be available for selection as well.”
Tom Campbell, Bailey Williams and Mitch Honeychurch all returned through the VFL this weekend, and Lowe said the Club was happy how they got through the game and presented this morning.
“It’s really pleasing to have the three of them back involved.”
