Development Coach and Senior Williamstown Coach Peter German talks to westernbulldogs.com.au about how Bulldogs listed players are tracking in the VFL.

Ayce Cordy: He backed up a good game from the week before. He shouldered the responsibility of the ruck and in the second term he became a real dominant figure for us on the ground around the stoppages and tackled really well. He utilised a lot of the skills that he has for a big man - even at ground level.

Tom Hill: Hill probably played his best game kicking four goals and he possibly could have kicked six or seven. He took some really good marks and he played a bit in the ruck as well. When he was forward he was quite dangerous and just started to find a bit more confidence to lead up and be one of the key forwards.

Andrew Hooper: He was a bit quiet early but his second half was a lot better. He pushed up the ground a bit and started to put a bit more pressure on at ground level but also started to find a bit more of the ball. He was also able to instigate with his defensive pressure and provide some rebound for us.

Matt Panos: Matt played predominantly down back but he played a bit forward, trying to develop his game at both ends. He got 22 possessions and he was reasonably solid throughout the game. We got some good rebound out of him which was pleasing - he didn’t just play as a big tall he also gave us some rebound from the back half.

Fletcher Roberts: Fletcher Roberts played on their key forward. He was probably a little bit shaded early, we pushed him forward and he had a hand in two or three goals which is good. He showed he has some good cleverness when the ball hits the ground for a big man. We are pleased that he has come along pretty well.

Justin Sherman: Justin was steady up until half time and then more influential in the second half. We played him further up the ground and got him involved in a lot of contested ball in the midfield. We are trying to really work with him on that. He has started to show some good signs with his pressure as well as using his speed to pressure and then also create. He was good for us in the second half.

Zephaniah Skinner: Tough day for the forwards, especially the deep forwards because it was a small ground and windy. Zephy didn’t get a lot of the ball. He worked hard to come up the ground a couple of times to really defend but it was a really tough day for the forwards and he probably didn’t have one of his best games.

Michael Talia: Talia played in defence. He is still learning his trade. He defended strongly at times and it was just a good steady game for him.

Jason Tutt: Tutt was quiet early in the first quarter but I thought he was one player who in the second quarter - when it was getting really tough - chased and tackled and was involved in some good defensive play.  Then after half time he began to give us more of his speed and run that we know he can do. He was another player that after half time lifted and a player that is working to get back to his full fitness. I think he took a good step.

Patrick Veszpremi: Pat played in defence and a bit on the wing. He got caught napping a few times but we addressed that after quarter time and he was better with his defensive play. A couple of times his ball use was really pivotal to some of our scoring chances. Again after half time he started to give us a lot more hardness around the contest.

Mitch Wallis: He was one of our drivers around the stoppages. I think overall we got shaded and got beaten in the stoppages but Mitch continued to chip away and then again after half time he probably had some key possessions that were able to set up some scoring shots. It was a tough day on the small ground for our mids with a lot of stoppages and hard grunt work and Mitch was in the thick of it.

Mark Austin: Mark was terrific in defence. He was prepared to fill space and show courage to defend and help his team mates out. He took some good defensive marks and I thought he was one of our better players.

Jason Johannisen: JJ took a real step forward in terms of being able to utilise his strengths of speed and agility and to be able to have a good change of pace. We saw that in the second half on numerous occasions. After half time he was one of our most important players to be able to try to resurrect our standing on the day. He was terrific.

Jack Redpath: As I said about Skinner, it was a tough day for our forwards. Redpath kicked a goal. On the small ground it was either going over their head or they had a lot of numbers contested against them. Jack is still in his development phase after coming off his injury from last year. We still see things at times that we really like with his strength and power. We are hoping that over the next couple of weeks he is really going to find his feet.

Williamstown will line up against North Ballarat on Saturday the 14th of April at Eureka Stadium with the first bounce at 2pm.
