Footscray and Gold Coast’s round 14 VFL match has been postponed, as confirmed by the AFL this afternoon.
The match was due to be played at Metricon Stadium on Saturday as a curtain-raiser to the AFL match.
Both teams will now have a bye this weekend and prepare to meet each other in round 17 – where they were both scheduled to have byes.
The decision comes amid the 16 local COVID-19 cases recorded in Victoria over the past 72 hours.
Further impacts to the remaining VFL fixture will be confirmed post-round 14.
Last week, the AFL announced the 2021 VFL season would move to a 14-game season as part of the COVID-19 disruptions already faced this year.
