Western Bulldogs defender Alex Keath says the group is remaining positive, as they enter the halfway mark of their week-long hotel quarantine in Perth.
The Bulldogs departed for WA on Sunday evening and have been confined to their hotel since, with exemptions to leave granted only for training and their upcoming match against West Coast.
Keath said despite not being able to take a four-day break after the Geelong game as originally planned, the group is in good spirits.
“I suppose it’s different for everyone, and everyone’s got their own challenges with different bits and pieces of being away from home, and also things back home that might be challenging, so where we can, having a little get together and a bit of light-hearted fun is crucial,” Keath told media via Zoom on Wednesday morning.
“There was a bit of backyard cricket on the tennis court and shooting some hoops yesterday – there’s plenty of downtime.
“It’s unfortunate with the way things panned out that we couldn’t get those four days off in a row, but the Club is really good and ‘Bevo’ has been amazing with understanding that balance.
“’Bevo’ will always look to give players and staff an opportunity to recharge where he can, with training still being super important.”
The Bulldogs will meet West Coast at Optus Stadium on Sunday afternoon, keen to return to the winner’s list after falling short to Geelong.
“The boys are really excited for this week after a bit of disappointment with that late losing goal last week,” Keath said.
“We’re looking forward to another challenge against a really experienced side in West Coast.
“They’re a really nice, tall forward line – I think we’re building some nice chemistry down there with our tall defenders and the other boys helping out where they can.”
