The battle also marked a new record for the Western Bulldogs Football Club with skipper Brad Johnson becoming the Club games record holder with 342 games. The previous record of 341 games was held by past Bulldogs Legend Chris Grant, who was present at the game with his predecessor, Doug Hawkins to pass on the reign to Johnson.

Despite losing Robert Murphy, Shaun Higgins and Scott Welsh to injury the Dogs were strong. Into the team came Lindsay Gilbee and youngsters Andrejs Everitt and Brennan Stack. General Manager Football, James Fantasia commented last week that "getting the opportunity is what it's all about for those younger blokes and unfortunately sometimes you have to suffer a few injuries for those opportunities to present themselves."
There were numerous strong performers for the Bulldogs including young pup Brennan Stack, who finished with 4 goals in his return to the AFL. Daniel Cross had 35 touches and seven clearances, while Adam Cooney had 30 possessions and Matthew Boyd an impressive 28 touches.
Another positive to come out of the game was youngster Callan Ward's nomination for NAB AFL Rising Star. The nomination is the result of a consistant season and true dedication from Ward.
West Coast is currently placed 13th on the ladder, while the Bulldogs remain in 3rd, above 4th placed Collingwood on percentage.
