The Western Bulldogs’ top-of-the-table clash with Melbourne will go ahead tomorrow night, as confirmed by the AFL this afternoon.

The game however will be played with the roof open in an empty Marvel Stadium, with crowds locked out of games in Victoria this weekend as the state prepares to enter a seven-day lockdown from Thursday night.

Victorian health officials confirmed 12 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday morning, taking the total number linked to the cluster in Melbourne's north to 26.

Acting Victorian premier James Merlino then announced a seven-day lockdown for the entire state to begin from 11.59pm AEST Thursday evening.

Melbourne players and football department staff are currently in isolation, having undergone COVID-19 testing today after an injured player was present at a Tier 1 exposure site on Sunday.

The results of those tests are expected to be cleared in time for the game tomorrow night.

All Bulldogs players, football staff and match-day staff had COVID-19 tests on Tuesday, returning negative results.
