The VFLW Bulldogs have returned to the winners list with a 14-point triumph over Carlton on Saturday afternoon at VU Whitten Oval.
Despite inaccuracy in front of goal and a persistent Blues outfit, the Bulldogs were able to hold on in the 4.14 (38) to 3.6 (24) affair.
Celine Moody – one of nine AFLW-listed players on the day – was the Dogs’ first goal-kicker, slotting one midway through the first quarter.
But it wasn’t until the 12-minute mark of the third that Simone Ruedin added the Bulldogs’ second.
Keeping the visitors goalless in the last quarter, a pair of back-to-back goals from Eliza Morrison and vice-captain Katelyn Betts sealed the Dogs’ fourth win of the season.
The result helps the Dogs to a 4-6 win-loss record, with just four rounds of the home-and-away season remaining.
Eleanor Brown was best-on-ground for her efforts in defence, while Eliza Vale and Angelica Gogos were impactful.
The VFLW Bulldogs will take on Essendon at Windy Hill next Saturday morning.
