Ellie Blackburn’s long-range goal against Melbourne in round four has been named runner-up in the 2021 AFLW Bulldogs’ Goal of the Year countdown.
With just four points separating the two teams half-way through the final term, Blackburn found herself lining up on former teammate Libby Birch.
The ball came in the pair’s direction, but it was the Bulldogs’ skipper who kept her feet, winning the 1v1 to send the footy into a vacant goal-square.
The Whitten Grandstand erupted – the roar amplified even more so when Blackburn turned to face them with a double-cobra celebration.
