Star midfielder Jack Macrae has jumped to equal second place on the AFL Coaches’ Association Champion Player of the Year leaderboard after round four.
The two-time All Australian is one of just two players to have polled votes in all four games this season, alongside Hawthorn’s Changkuoth Jiath.
Macrae collected an equal-game high nine votes in Saturday’s win against the Brisbane Lions in Ballarat, taking his season tally to 22.
He sits alongside Melbourne captain Max Gawn on that number, six votes behind Adelaide Crows forward Taylor Walker (28).
Macrae had a game-high 32 disposals in the 19-point win over the Lions, alongside seven clearances, eight tackles and a goal.
Ruck-forward Tim English also picked up nine votes, for his three-goal, nine-mark performance.
Midfielder Adam Treloar and key forward Aaron Naughton collected three votes each, while forward-turned-defender Bailey Dale continued his strong season and earned two votes for his efforts.
