Western Bulldogs AFLW head coach Nathan Burke says his side will move on quickly from Sunday’s loss, as they look to reset for their clash with North Melbourne in Tasmania.

The Bulldogs matched Collingwood’s intensity for the first half of their round six meeting at Victoria Park, before the hosts flexed their muscles in the second half.

Burke said if his playing group was to dwell on the result, it would be disadvantageous to their run home and the opportunity to secure a finals berth.

“We work on TLC, which is not probably what you think it is,” Burke explained to media in his post-match press conference.

“T stands for temporary – they’re down, they’re upset, they’re not happy, so I’ve given them the warm-down and shower to have a sulk, but when they walk back to their cars they need to have their chins up with a smile on their face.

“L stands for localised, which simply means we lost a game of football. (They’re) all still outstanding, wonderful young women – so let’s compartmentalise it.

“C is what can we control? We can control what goes on between our ears, how we review the game, how we learn from the game, and how we turn up for training and really attack that mindset.

“That’s our method for dealing with these sort of things – if we continue to be feeling like we do now when we turn up for training on Tuesday and Thursday, and get on the plane to Hobart, we’re going to get flogged.

“By the time they walk out to their car, that’s the end of that.”

Burke’s Bulldogs will travel to North Hobart Oval on Saturday to take on North Melbourne in round seven of the 2021 NAB AFLW season.
