Isabella Grant will become the fourth Bulldog to make her AFLW debut this season when she runs out onto GMHBA Stadium this Friday night against Geelong.
Grant will become the first father-daughter selection to play for the Bulldogs, following in the footsteps of her father Chris, a Legend of the Club and current Head of Football.
She will wear guernsey number three – the same number Chris wore during his magnificent 341-game playing career.
Grant endured an injury-riddled 2020 in her first year as a Western Bulldogs player, before returning to the action in last month’s practice match win against Richmond.
With the ability to play as a tall forward or in the middle, she was named an emergency for the Bulldogs’ two matches so far this season, before being elevated this week.
The 19-year-old had just finished working a shift when senior coach Nathan Burke broke the news to her over a phone call.
It wasn’t until nearly six hours later however, once her family was home, that she was able to surprise her parents and younger siblings.
Grant was taken with pick number 47 in the 2019 AFLW draft.
The AFLW Bulldogs will announce their full team for round three at 5.30pm tonight.
Tickets for the match can be purchased here, with AFLW memberships available from as little as $50 per adult here.
All the information you need to know ahead of Friday night’s clash can be found in the round three match preview.
