Exciting key forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan is already showing his teammates why he was the number one pick in last year’s NAB AFL Draft, according to defender Alex Keath.
Keath, who has spent time lining up against the 18-year-old already this pre-season, says Ugle-Hagan has the attributes to make an early impact at AFL level if gets an opportunity.
Competition for spots in the Western Bulldogs’ line-up for round one is expected to be fierce, players pushing for spots and the off-season addition of proven performers Adam Treloar, Stefan Martin and Mitch Hannan.
"All the talent is there, so (Ugle-Hagan's inclusion) will be up to the selectors, but he'll have to put his best foot forward," Keath said on Wednesday.
"If he gets into the side then a young, exciting prospect is always good for the group.
"He's got a young body but I think he's pretty strong for his weight, if that makes sense.
"He's obviously a very powerful player and you see his aerial stuff and his ability to get off the ground is pretty special.
"He's pretty quick and I think that (strength) will come with time and a couple of pre-seasons."
Another emerging key forward, Josh Schache, has overcome a minor ankle injury and was involved in training on Wednesday.
"He might roll into a bit of match sim later this week," Keath said.
"He was training really well before he had his injury a couple of weeks ago now.
"He's a real professional and he's working hard, so it will be good to see him back out there."
