Jason Johannisen 

 
With his line-breaking pace and foot skills, Jason Johannisen’s best brings a different dimension to the Bulldogs. 

He certainly displayed that at stages throughout 2020. 

The 28-year-old had some quiet patches, but explosive periods which contributed to wins against the likes of North Melbourne, Gold Coast, Melbourne and Hawthorn. 

Johannisen played a number of different roles, including his customary job across half-back. But he also pushed onto a wing at stages, and even into a forward role – where he kicked two goals against the Hawks.

Best game: Johannisen’s drive in greasy conditions helped the Bulldogs get the points against the Gold Coast Suns. He had 18 disposals at 88.9 per cent disposal efficiency, generating 313 metres gained. Johannisen kicked an important set shot goal in the third term from 50 metres out, to restore a narrow lead for the Bulldogs. 

 

Alex Keath 

Off-season addition Alex Keath has quickly become a pivotal player for the Bulldogs. 

His first year in red, white and blue was sensational, and was acknowledged with sixth place in the best and fairest award.  

Keath settled in seamlessly at full back, marking the competition’s best forwards and impacting games with his ability to peel off his opponent and intercept in the air.

Best game: The big defenders often fly under the radar, but Keath had a noticeable impact against the Gold Coast Suns in round eight. The Bulldogs put the wall up late to hang onto a five-point win against the Suns. Keath was rock-solid in defence, with eight intercepts and six rebound-50s to complement his 13 disposals.
